Assertion Reason Questions

Direction: For questions given below. In each question given below, there are two statements marked as Assertion (A) and reason (R). Mark as per the codes provided below.
(a) Both A and R are correct and R is the correct explanation of A.
(b) Both A and R are correct but R is not the correct explanation of A.
(c) A is correct but R is wrong.
(d) A is wrong but R is correct.

Q. 1. Assertion (A): A Constitution is the aggregate of fundamental principles of governance.
Reason (R): Constitution determines how that entity is to be governed.

Ans. Option (a) is correct.
Explanation: A Constitution is a set of rules according to which the government of a country governs.

Q. 2. Assertion (A): Sovereignty is the power of a king to rule his people.
Reason (R): Sovereignty is the authority to govern a State or a State that is self-governing.

Ans. Option (a) is correct answer
Explanation: Sovereignty means independence and freedom to govern oneself. Sovereignty is the defining authority within individual consciousness, social construct or territory. Sovereignty entails hierarchy within the state, as well as external autonomy for states.
