Read the given passage below and answer the questions that follow:

Observe the following diagram and give answer to the questions.

Q. 1. What does Sudhir’s activity show?

Ans. Bar 2 is made of nickel.

Q. 2. Sudhir repeats the activity using metal wires in the place of metal bars.

Will the results remain the same as before? Explain your answer.
Ans. The results will remain the same as the materials used are unchanged.

Q. 3. A mixture contains sand and iron dust. How can the iron dust be separated from sand?
(a) Blow air over the mixture.
(b) Sieve the mixture using a strainer
(c) Pour water into the mixture and then filter it.
(d) Spread the mixture and run a magnet all over it.

Ans. Option (d) is correct.
Explanation: To separate iron dust from sand, you should use a magnet. Iron is magnetic, so running a magnet over the mixture will attract the iron dust, leaving the sand behind.
